Have I Lost My Mind??

Well, obviously.
So I have this spinning wheel, that I can't even spin on , yet. (Please don't look at my piled up, messy house! You can look though and note that the spinning wheel has the driver band ON). If that isn't bad enough, I had to go to a flea market today, on the way home from work, and buy this thing!

And even though I have no yarn, and can't spin, I just had to have this antique yarn winder. Did it even sink in that it's even bigger than my spinning wheel and that I have no room for it? Evidently not.
I probably would have been able to walk away from it but it was on sale. Down from $65.00 to $39.99. It's a pretty charming looking old piece, and I assume it is workable. If I ever had any yarn spun up I might find out.

I'm not sure I'll keep it, but for now it's tucked behind the wood stove, where I can admire it, but still not trip over it.

Somebody really needs to do an intervention here!

I can't, for the life of me, make out what the last picture is. Then again, I'm the one who took three weeks to figure out the upside-down cat face in your side-bar!

Congratulations on a great find! WHEN you start spinning, you will discover it to be a very useful tool It beats the crap out of winding yarn off of the bobbin with a niddy noddy. Oh yeah, you DO have a niddy noddy, don't you??

;-)

Fall is a great time to learn to spin and you'll be amazed by how easy it really is...

Yes, Pat it IS a great old piece. The only trouble is, my house is full of such 'great old things'. :-) I had someone come to pick up sheep a few weeks back, and when she walked in, it was like 'wow, look at all the old things!'. I'm thinking to take it as a compliment. ha...
Nancy, that last picture is of some kind of gauge that is on the side of the winder--it moves around as the wheel is turned. I'm sure it has a use, maybe to indicate how much has been loaded on?? Niddy-noddy?? Oh, dear....:-) I would love to start spinning, but seem to be having major techincal difficulties with the spinning wheel. Maybe someday...

tsk tsk, I keep telling you Tammy, you need a "drop spindle"! :)

It takes up MUCH less room than a wheel.. heheheh

Seriously though, if you need any help, let me know.. I know several people who can help you learn to spin on a wheel!

Score! You will really appreciate having this when you DO start spinning, Tammy! Just remember: You don't have to feed it or send it to college. ;-)
