Like a walk through the country side living on a small farm is full of daily surprises, sometimes wonderful and amazing, and other times puzzling and sad. I hope you will walk with me as I live out my dream of living on this tiny farm. You will come to know the dogs, cats, Shetland sheep and chickens that make up this farm and what goes into keeping them happy and healthy. Come and join the journey with me.

Four Years Ago Last Week....

Boone Dog

...on the 14th to be exact, I was coming back from town, minding my own business, when Boone staggered into my life.

Anytime is a good time for hamburger and fries in Boone's book! In celebration of four years I bought them each a hamburger (they shared the fries!)

Four years--can you believe it? That puts Boone at most likely late middle age of his life--if I'm lucky. Wow...time flies.

For those of you new to the blog click here for Boone's story and the follow up to the beginning here.

Since Boone has been part of the family he has had three 'sisters' and lost two of them. Granted they were much hairier than him, but he was happy to have his own little pack. His greatest joys in life are 1) treats & 2) coming in the house. Close second are walks and just hanging out with me.

It's been a journey of learning with this big boy, but it's also been a journey of blessings.

Ashley enjoys the celebration hamburger and fries

Here's to many more, big Ba-Boone!

Amen to that. I've just read your post about when Boone came into your life and the tears are flowing BIGTIME. You are my heroine of the week now. It will be a long time before I forget that story!
Blessings to you and all of yours,
Star.

His story makes me cry every time.

How lucky he was that *you* saw him that day............

My Wilbur (beaglex?) was shot before I got him. [knocking on wood] We've been lucky; the metal in his body doesn't seem to bother him. [still knocking!]

I wish Boone a very happy Gotcha day, and many more!

Me loves Boone and his slobbers. Our world wouldn't have been the same if he hadn't come into your life and lived. There is no other like Boone.

From his Auntie, Happy foundling day, Boone.

It's always hard to believe that that skinny, mange-y dog is now big ol' Boone. And what a sweetie he is. :)

I am a firm believer that animals come into our lives for both their needs, and ours. AS much as I know you saved Boone, I think he also has "saved" you, Tammy. Same with Ashley, the kittens, Sage, Mesach, the sheep...
Some blessings come on four feet.

Good dog, Boone!

Happy Anniversary Tammy and Boone! I am so glad that you posted the link to your original story. I remember the first time that I read it. I think it has to be one of the most heartwarming stories I have EVER read. I'm still in awe of your courage in taking in such a big, scary looking boy. But I am so grateful that you did. Boone hasn't just touched your life ~ through you ~ he's touched ours as well! Thank you so much for sharing this magnificent animal with us.

Thanks everyone. He is a special dog. We've had our issues but most aren't to lose sleep over. Orange--I'd say Wilbur will be fine. They seem to overcome much. I feel like Boone was shot, and the vet even did exploratory surgery on his shoulder, since it refused to heal up. They never found anything though.
