I know how easy it is to slip with a squirmy dog and I can't imagine sheep standing still. I think it was one of the wethers last fall who thought when she came into heat that she should submit to his charms, even if he couldn't remember what those were. Apparently, she was injured in the area controlling her back legs and she's getting much worse as time goes on.
If the knotheads would just stop picking on each other. ;/
I am sorry you have the walking wounded, but know that with your care and time, things will right themselves. :)Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16933105773412843275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28884256.post-41628983157180159532013-04-25T22:05:02.323-07:002013-04-25T22:05:02.323-07:00Oh Tammy, I've never had an experience that aw...Oh Tammy, I've never had an experience that awful; I'm afraid I'd end up scissor-shearing them all myself after something like that! It was bad enough to have Blake covered with LITTLE nicks, and three sheep that will need to be re-sheared because of being in the rise.Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550786937196525098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28884256.post-37536291257800038112013-04-25T17:53:13.400-07:002013-04-25T17:53:13.400-07:00I know how you feel. The last time shearing the goa...I know how you feel. The last time shearing the goats-we did it ourselves-Blackie got knicked bad,I felt unworthy of them,& said I couldn`t go through this anymore. He was fine,we glued the spot shut, but it started it in motion that we had to sell them-which as you know was God`s will for us at the time.
Then the hooves...& worrying about it being too wet for them to be in pasture if you knicked the hooves...but am I ever missing them, resisted the urge to buy "just 1" from steam valley farm where I got the others.
Wishing you some dry weather, don`t think the blades on the shears were dull, but maybe he didn`t have the guard set right. You are indeed taking wonderful care of them for as old as they are!phyllistiptoethruphylsgarden.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10617828571094245723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28884256.post-54802755324251540142013-04-25T14:43:38.427-07:002013-04-25T14:43:38.427-07:00Crazy how different this spring and last spring ar...Crazy how different this spring and last spring are, isn't it?! I am no sheep shearer but have clipped dogs and had an unintended nick or two.

Jo in MinnesotaJo's Worldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07004590496962477481noreply@blogger.com
